Achieving VFM through Resident Involvement

No we're not trying to compete with the supermarkets but this is a special offer as you may be overlooking a group who can make a valuable contribution to achieving VFM - your residents. We know they will be keen to help you do so - it's in their interest after all.

The first step is to train them in what VFM is all about so they can start to help you achieve it. We offer training on VFM for residents at times and durations to suit participants developed and run by HTA Associate Neal Purvis. Neal has extensive experience of both working with residents generally and housing providers to develop VFM.

What will the training cover?

By the end of the half day course residents will be able to:

• Define Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness
• Understand the concept of Value for Money
• Identify where residents can find their landlord’s understanding of VFM
• Identify where residents can have an impact on decisions relating to VFM
• Explain the government framework for evaluating VFM

Additionally those participating in the full day will be able to:

• Understand processes that are essential to deliver VFM
• Identify what information residents’ need to make a positive contribution to VFM
• Identify where residents can have an impact on decisions relating to VFM

What will it cost?

These courses can be run for you in-house at our current rate of £700 plus VAT per day. Additionally we will be happy to discuss with you hosting the course and selling places on to other social housing landlords.

So What’s Free?

As well as creating a group of informed residents the training will open up possibilities for resident involvement, possibly with residents who haven’t been involved before. Residents will see you are serious about involving them and have an insight into what you are trying to achieve.
